Took a weekend trip to Idyllwild and Ferro was highly recommended! Booking a reservation was very easy online and we got outdoor seating which was very beautiful in their back patio! We ordered the Linguine alla Bolognese, Spaghetti alla Carbonara, and Insalata di Cesare. Both the pasta dishes were delicious and I really liked the carbonara with the guanciale. The Ceasar salad was very delicious - it came with sardines and felt very light! Would highly recommend! The drinks were just ok - we ordered the verdita margarita and spicy ginger man. I wasn't the biggest fan but the meal made up for it! To end it all we got the banana bread with Nutella and gelato and that was soooo good! Overall it was such a nice time and would highly recommend Ferro!
One of the best meals I've had in a long time! I was so impressed by Ferro, we came in from San Diego and I saw that there were so many great recommendations, so we tried it out for a Friday night dinner. We sat upstairs, it's very cute and cozy. We started off with the Panzanella salad which had these deliciously toasted homemade croutons and fresh veggies. I had the Spaghetti Aglio e Olio con Pomodori Secchi which was cooked perfectly al dente and was so flavorful, the homemade bread it was served with was perfect. My husband had the Lasagne al Cinghiale e Manzo and it was a huge portion and full of flavor. Along with a Cherrywood Old-Fashioned which was so well balanced. Service was fantastic and so welcoming.
My wife and I had a lovely time at Ferro. The music and ambiance was a great ending to our day. The service was a bit slow, but they were very friendly! (Though I only saw two waiters for the entire patio and it IS a mountain town after all...) The food was a good, though the pasta and pizza were a bit too salty/oil-y for our taste. That said, if you like Italian food with old school music and nice ambiance, then I would recommend Ferro's overall! Oh, also the dessert (the banana bread with gelato) was pretty great! Probably the best part of the meal.
Amazing service & delicious food! I made reservations for us earlier in the day for dinner & when we showed up we asked if it was possible to sit outside. We were seated in our own little gazebo/ canopy tent. Honestly the best seat we could've asked for. I was really craving pasta so I ordered the spaghetti e polpette and my fiancé got the pollo arrosto. His meal was genuinely so big, I didn't expect it to be an entire chicken. The flavors on it were so good and he was so happy with it. For my spaghetti, the meatballs were good and melted in your mouth. The only complaint I have is my noodles tasted a bit overcooked but I still enjoyed it. For dessert I really wanted to try their tiramisu, it was so yummy! I'm honestly a sucker for a good dessert. Throughout our entire meal we were constantly checked on, waters refilled and asked if we were enjoying our food. Everyone was so kind and provided excellent service. The outside seating also felt more intimate and special. I can't imagine how pretty it looks at night. We will definitely be back!
Came to Idyllwild for our anniversary and booked dinner at FERRO. First off, their service was great! Their staff were all kind and welcoming. We were sat by the little fireplace by the front door and it was such a welcoming ambiance. Their food was also very tasty. I got their eggplant parmesan with spaghetti and my husband got the wild boar and prime rib lasagna. It was all cooked to perfection. Their drink menu is kind of limited to wines and some beer. They have some cocktails as well. Highly recommend this place!!
Overnight get a way to Idyllwild. This place was recommended by a local. Nice cozy place. Bar top seats six. Was greeted right away. Sat at bar and was served olives & bread sticks. Order some drinks & food. I'm trying a small plate of spaghetti w/ rib eye - pork meatball. Also have a small pizza w/ peperoni & Basil. Pizza crust was crisp without being though, sauce was flavorful. Spaghetti small was just the right size w/ flavorful sauce and meatball. Service was excellent as the bartender (Brian) was getting it done & stopped to engage with us. If your in the area stop in for happy hour and enjoy a drink & a bite.
Ferro is my favorite restaurant in Idyllwild!! They have patio seating (with heaters) or indoor seating with fireplace if you want to be nice and cozy. The staff were all extremely friendly and the chef even came out to greet all of the diners during their meal which we thought was such a thoughtful touch to the dining experience. They start you off with some bread sticks and olives. I ordered the Hibiscus Seasonal Shrub (N.A. fruit preserve drink a bit like kombucha but not as vinegary), we ordered brocollini and grilled prawns to start. I was able to make my own gluten-free/no cheese pizza with sausage and grilled artichokes (YUM) and my friend ordered the cacio e pepe. We also HAD TO get dessert: I ordered the seasonal cobbler and my friend got the chocolate cake. We were stuffed to the brim but it was so worth it!
Literally the best spaghetti bolognese I've ever had. No idea how they did it, but the meat was perfect. The pizza was amazing. I added the prime rib as an addition and it was a great choice. The service felt very personal. Our waiter described the menu very well and even left us with a Happy Anniversary card and dessert. I made a reservation and noted it was our anniversary. We were able to sit outside with the fire place. It felt very private as it was only us out there. Downside is that it gets dark quick and your main light source is the fire.
Given it's somewhat remote location, it is remarkable that Ferro continues to serve such wonderful food. Not only that, but they are very accommodating for diners with dietary restrictions. We recently dined at Ferro for a romantic evening experience. The food was fantastic and the service was impeccable. I highly recommend dining here the next time you find yourself in Idyllwild.
